If he wanted to move on he should have relinquished control of her to her parents. "til death do us part" means he is an adulterer for moving in with another woman and having children by her. I cannot make excuses for that action. He had every right to end the marriage, he didn't. He chose to remain in control of her while basically taking a new wife in all but name. Hypocritical wouldn't you say?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That has been the Schindler's contention (her parents)and facts do tend to support their contention. I was initially firmly on his side but in recent weeks as I have learned more I no longer give him as much credit. Moving in with another woman and having kids was really repudiating his marriage to Terri, no matter how you look at it. In such case the right thing to do would have been to "give her back" to her parents IMHO.

I'm sure the husbands actions will be closely scrutinized by the moral majority for the next year or so. If he comes into some money, I'm fairly certain it will end up in the courts again. Probably the parents wanting a piece.

Nobody came out a winner in this whole fiasco.

He already got $1 million in a settlement quite a few years ago and the Schindlers state he had promised them some of it for past debts he and Terri owed them.

but recently a far right businessman offered him another $1 million to relinquish control of her to her parents and he refused. I suspect at this point he felt he needed to hold his ground. Maybe he really was trying to honor her wishes? Very complicated case and no one has all the answers...

While I did not agree with her parents, I respect them FAR more than I do her "husband". Moving in with another woman is wrong. I think he should have divorced her & given control to her parents.

And I do believe that she was "responsive" to some (not much but a little) degree and was "alive" to some degree.

I do think that money was what it was about, in her husband's case.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">If the medical reports I've read are true, she had no cerebral cortex. She was responsive because of autonomic functions. She was alive only in the sense her body was still functioning.

She was not alive Sluggo. She was existing. Big difference in my opinion. While I have some questions about the husband, I hold the parents more reponsible for the media fiasco this turned into.

RIP this story being on the news here every single night for the first 20 minutes or more too. One night right after the feeding tube was removed both Fox News and WB News (both on at 10:00pm) covered it the first 40 minutes of the broadcast! About 5 minutes for weather and then sports and then it was over...as if nothing else were happening in the world.

I know, Jumper. I would not choose to "live" like that but all the people who condemn her parents & call them selfish should be FORCED to walk in their shoes before they pass judgment. JMHO!!!!!!!!

There is evidence the parents lead a rather vindictive media campaign against Michael Shiavo, and possibly misleading the public about Terri's condition.

There seems to be this bias that implies somehow Terri's parents loved Terri more than Terri's husband. That isn't necessarily the case.

Honestly Sluggo.......I think the parents were selfish. Not saying the hubby is squeakly clean in all this but the burden or should I say responsibility for the duration of this event lies squarely on the parents.
